Orange Beach Parasailing 101: What You Need to Know about High-Flying Fun

Are you ready to trade in your beach chair for a bird’s eye view of those glittering Gulf waves? Orange Beach parasailing  – or, as we call it, Sky Surfing – with our crew is the ultimate way to catch breathtaking views of Alabama’s beaches. (And, let’s face it, soaring high over the Alabama Gulf Coast like a majestic, swimsuit-clad bird is pretty epic.) If you’re a first-time flier, you probably have some questions: how high will I fly? What will I see? Is it safe?

Before you swap your flip-flops for flight gear, let’s address those pre-flight jitters with some fast facts and basic tips from the expert crew at Parasail Sky Surfer.

What is Parasailing?

Parasailing is a thrilling adventure where 1-3 people are towed behind a boat while attached to a specially designed parachute, known as a parasail. The speed of the boat causes the parasail to lift into the air, allowing the flyers to glide through the sky while enjoying breathtaking views of oceans, beaches, and landscapes from high above.

Whether you’re a seasoned thrill-seeker or a first-timer looking for a new adventure, parasailing in Orange Beach offers an unforgettable experience that combines the joy of flying through the air with the excitement of seeing the world from a whole new perspective!

Is It Safe?

Absolutely! Parasailing is safe and exciting for most ages (typically, you’ll need to be at least 4 years old to fly in the chute.) It feels more like gliding than flying, with gentle lifts and landings and a consistent speed to ensure smooth sailing – literally.

At Parasail Sky Surfer, your safety is our top priority. Sky Surfer, our 35-foot parasailing boat, is Coast Guard-Certified and designed to provide safety and comfort for up to 15 passengers. Our crew is trained to handle any situation during flights, including training in First Aid and CPR. We also conduct regular safety drills to keep us on our sea legs and our guests safe at all times on the water and in the air.

What to Expect

You’ll be safely secured into a harness and, once we reach the Gulf, seated on our padded back deck and tightly secured to the chute (we’ll double-check.) As the boat picks up speed, you’ll gently lift off the deck and ascend into the sky. It’s a smooth, exhilarating ride that’s perfect for all ages, whether you’re a thrill-seeker or simply looking to enjoy the view.

The feeling of parasailing in Orange Beach is like no other—imagine floating on air with the wind in your hair and the sun kissing your face. All you’ll need to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight hundreds of feet above the water. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins playing in the waves below and sea turtles swimming gracefully through the water. Or, if you’re looking for a few thrills and spills, ask our captain to fly you just low enough to dip your toes in the water before soaring back into the sky!

How To Dress the Part

Comfort is key when parasailing. Wear a swimsuit or quick-dry clothing, as you might get a little wet during takeoff and landing. Don’t forget the sunscreen—those UV rays are stronger at higher altitudes. Leave your valuables on the shore or with our friendly crew to ensure they stay safe and dry. And, of course, bring a sense of adventure and a big smile!

Be Sure to Capture the Moment!

Don’t worry about missing out on capturing your high-flying adventure—our team offers professional photo and video packages so you can relive the thrill over and over again. Plus, your friends and family will love seeing you in action, soaring above the sparkling waters and sugar-white sands.

Ready to Take the Leap?

There’s no better way to see the stunning coastlines of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores than from the sky. Whether you’re a solo adventurer, a couple looking for a romantic escapade, or a family craving some fun, a flight with Parasail Sky Surfer is an unforgettable experience.
